Cosmic Films Acquires Worldwide Rights to 'The Four Gates of Death'

Cosmic Films has acquired worldwide distribution rights to "The Four Gates of Death," a horror anthology from Hungarian filmmaking collectives Horrorszkóp and Cruel World Team.
A rare entry in contemporary Hungarian genre cinema, The Four Gates of Death is a scrappy, passion-driven anthology that celebrates classic horror storytelling through four grim and unsettling tales, each steeped in themes of death, betrayal, obsession, and cruel twists of fate.
Created entirely through self-funding and community collaboration, the film embodies the raw DIY ethos reminiscent of vintage VHS-era horror, where creativity and enthusiasm mattered more than polish. The result is a love letter to the genre, crafted by lifelong horror fans who grew up on midnight movies, cult tapes, and forbidden video nasties.
Four Stories. Four Paths to the Grave.
Graveyard Rendezvous
A professional hitman meets a mysterious woman for their first “date” in a graveyard. What begins as an odd romantic encounter spirals into nightmare territory when she introduces him to her father.Family Weekend

A man reconnects with a childhood friend he hasn’t seen since a terrifying incident years earlier. As old memories resurface, it becomes clear that the encounter left permanent scars.
Co-director Zsolt Bernáth founded the Cruel World Team in 1994 and produced the first Hungarian independent horror feature. After an eleven-year hiatus, The Four Gates of Death marks a return to filmmaking that bridges generations.
“This project is more than a film. It’s a celebration of genre passion, creative freedom, and the power of community,” the filmmakers state. “Every frame is a love letter to the nightmares that inspired us.”
The Four Gates of Death embraces its identity as a cult-minded anthology meant to be discovered by genre fans who appreciate twisted morals, dark irony, and old-school storytelling reminiscent of EC horror comics.
It stands as a rare example of Hungarian indie horror reaching a global audience, offering something fresh for viewers hungry for international genre cinema.
The Four Gates of Death is co-directed by Zsolt Bernáth and Lajos Kiss. Bernáth and Kiss shared writing duties with G.V. Cooper and David Damina.
The film stars Laszlo Turi, Fanni Bernáth, Richard Zadori, Zsolt Juhasz, Janos Mozsar, Attila Kiss, David Damina, Gabor Csanálosi, Ágnes Pinter, Lajos Kiss, Gergely Darabos, Gabor Karalyos, Csaba Laczikó, and Roland Turi.
